Alaina's dedication

"Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6
This past Sunday we dedicated Alaina to the Lord.  In this way, we publicly declare that we desire to raise our children in the Lord according to His will, to know Him and all His ways.

The dedication was at the same church in Seoul, the Doguk campus of Onnuri English Ministry, that we have been attending since moving here and where Marc and Emmalyn were also dedicated.
During the service, Jarrod repeated these vows:
"I promise before God and His people, as the spiritual leader in this family: to raise up my children in the ways of the Lord; to lead by example in trusting God first, each day of my life; to lead my family into His presence with prayer and Scripture; to love and cherish my wife.
Then we both repeated these vows:
"We promise before God and His people: to train our child in the instruction and discipline of the Lord and to encourage our child to one day trust Jesus as Lord and Savior.  We dedicate and surrender our child to the Lord today.

Pastor Eddie Byun prayed for Alaina and for our family.
We intend to raise Alaina, along with our other children, in a Christian home of love and peace, to raise her in the truth of our Lord's instruction and discipline, and to encourage her to one day trust Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. We ask for accountability and prayer.
We were so happy to share this special ocassion with Alaina's Grammy Puff!
We are so thankful for our littlest blessing, Alaina Lee!  It is our prayer that Christ will dwell in her heart through faith. May she learn and truly grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, which surpasses all knowledge, and be filled with all the fullness of God.  To Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:14-21)

Good News and Great Joy

That magical moment when you wake up and realize it is Christmas day, and go out to the living room and see the Christmas tree lit up with presents waiting and stockings filled...

...and then Mom makes you eat breakfast.

The joy of gift giving and getting...
...and gift sharing!
(thanks, Marc, for letting Emmalyn try on your Mickey hoodie!.. I promise she will give it back!)

A First Christmas...

A Basketball Christmas..

A Happy Christmas together!

And a Happy Birthday Jesus cake!
This Christmas we spent as a family, showing our love to each other through gifts, snuggles, and time together to laugh, play, and share the joy of Jesus' birth.  Christmas really is such a magical time - with great anticipation for the day that does not disappoint.  It is a day to celebrate our God, the creator of the Universe, coming down into human form because of His love for us - born that He might save us.
What Good News, such Great Joy!

We hope you have also had a wonderful Christmas day.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night!

Alaina's first days

Alaina Lee Puffenbarger joined our family on the morning of October 7th.
She is beautiful and we are so blessed to have her in our lives.
We came home from the hospital on Friday, Oct 11 - where she found the open and waiting arms of her big sister. I am waiting for the novelty of the "new baby" or "baby Ali" to wear off a bit - but as of right now, she is still the celebrity of the house.
1 week old!
Alaina had moderate bilirubin levels so we gave her 24 hours of formula to keep her out of the hospital.  Her big sister was thrilled to have a chance to participate in feeding the baby - and even learned about burping her.  Emmalyn is a pro now when she feeds all of her baby dolls. :)
Alaina has been a good eater, sleeper, and generally will take a lot from her siblings - so it looks like she is going to fit in well. :)
Story time with Daddy!
Even though we are still figuring it all out - especially as Daddy returns to work tomorrow - we are so happy as a family of 5 (and thankful to have my mom's help for the next 10 days!)!
