Just a few hours after our school break started, we grabbed our suitcases, hopped on a plane, and headed for the beautiful island of Saipan. Where is that you might ask? Exactly- just the place Stephanie and I had been waiting for- a quiet place to escape to alone together, away from our routines... and most everything (but still back on American soil).
We stayed a nice resort which had a pool only a few yards away from the beach. Here, we also had a sunset barbecue where we got to drink from a coconut and be serenaded with Christmas music!
One day we had the opportunity to look at old war sites. We also were able to talk with my grandparents from there. It was good to give my grandfather a brief update on the island since he'd been there. Crazy to think that just over 65 years ago the island was under attack when now it is a popular vacation spot for many Asians... a vacation spot where now Americans and Japanese can relax at the same beach, lounge at the same hotel, visit the same war sites together- in peace. Thankfully.
Stephanie and I also got to go to a small island off the coast of Saipan called Managaha. It had some of the best snorkeling around.. and it was absolutely unbelievable! Later, we got the chance to take a submarine down into the clear blue water and see some corral, many species of fish, and even some old war remains at the bottom of the reef.
All in all, it was a very relaxing time and a great place to spend any 2nd honeymoon, babymoon, 2 year anniversary, or (and) Christmas :)

What a great post!! That is just beautiful! Glad it was worth it and you guys could enjoy such a special time together! Hopefully it was a good reminder that your family is complete as husband and wife, children are an extra blessing!
Thank you both for honoring your Pop-pop (James Earl) by visiting the one place in his memory as a young soldier that his country sent him too. Pop-pop has the war memories but you bring it full circle with your new memories and pictures of the peace that is now a part of that little island. It was ordained by God for you to see the footprints of your Grandfather just three generations earlier. May you and your family always see the footprint of our Lord Jesus Christ not only day-by-day, but also hour-by-hour. I thank the Lord for your love and the honoring of your Grandparents that you have shown, at the same time I am thankful that your love for the Lord Jesus Christ comes before father or mother or sister or brother or grandparents for that matter and that God is honoring "your" marriage because from the beginning you both as individuals made the decision to put Him first.
